THE NIGHT STALKER -- FRANK C. GIRARDOT JR. RETURNS (HE'S NOT THE NIGHT STALKER)

Best-selling author Frank C. Girardot has been called the "Demon dog of true crime" by none other than Black Dahlia author James Ellroy. Praise for his writing has come from authors as varied as Walter Kirn and Michael Fleeman. His books have ranged from "Name Dropper", a chronicle on the bizarre antics of a murdering imposter who called himself Clark Rockefeller to "Betrayal in Blue" a look at cocaine dealing cops in 1980s New York City, which was co-authored by Burl Barer and Ken Eurell, one of the actual cops. In all of his writing, Girardot's ability to interview complicated characters like drug kingpin Adam Diaz, German imposter Christian Gerhartsreiter and serial arsonist John Orr, add a depth to his story telling that is often lacking in police procedurals masking as true crime. In each of his books, Girardot has displayed a unique ability to locate long-hidden public records and distill narratives from complex court records that brings his stories to life. Girardot's career in journalism began as a copyboy with the now-defunct Los Angeles Herald Examiner. As a reporter he covered stories as fascinating as the O.J. Simpson murder trial and as complex as the mistaken gang execution of three trick-or-treaters on Halloween 1993 in the Los Angeles area. Most recently, Girardot wrote a weekly column on the 2016 election for The Hill.

Born in Texas in 1960, Richard Ramirez was an American serial killer who killed at least 14 people and raped and tortured at least two dozen more, mostly during the spring and summer of 1985. After developing epilepsy as a child, he became a heavy drug user and cultivated an interest in Satanism, which became a calling card for investigators at his crime scenes. Apprehended in August 1985, Ramirez was sentenced to death at the conclusion of his trial in 1989. He spent the remainder of his days at California's San Quentin Prison, before dying from cancer on June 7, 2013, at age 53.

Genis traded in his publishing career for a life of crime to feed a raging a day)heroin appetite. His taste for the illegal substance (costing Genis $100  [6 

The month-long robbery spree centered around the Lower East Side, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Gramercy Park, and the Financial District.[7] Nicknamed the "apologetic bandit" by the press, Genis offered apologies to his victims as he took their cash and returned their wallets.^[8] His 18 robberies accounted for $700 in total.^[9]

During one week in 2003, Genis committed five robberies. In November of the same year he was identified by one of his victims, arrested, and eventually convicted of five counts of armed robbery, for which he served 10 years in prison.^[10]

Genis's prison sentence granted him time to plan his literary career. In fact, Genis remarks that his authentic education as a reader and writer began not while he was a history major or working at a literary agency in Manhattan, but at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville, New York; where Genis read 1,046 books.^[2] Genis kept a diary of his readings, numbering, and annotating each entry.

I took everything they had, I even opened my first vault and took thousands of carats of semi-precious and precious gems that were in the vault. The rest of the gems were in a locked steel cabinet inside what looked like strong boxes but not strong enough against a crowbar and a big screwdriver.  They opened with little resistance, revealing astonishing treasures, including a stunning emerald necklace worth $175,000, plus another two thousand carats of the finest emeralds you’ve ever seen. We loaded the boodle into eight black canvas bags and they were incredibly heavy. We managed to get all eight bags out due to our combined physical strength and the added boost of adrenaline. With the job well done, I returned through an open window to take a last look and was casually walking towards the office when all a sudden, a side door pops open and in comes the NYPD.
